Mangal Pandey: The Rising is an Indian historical biographical drama movie released in 2005. Based on the life of Mangal Pandey, who was an Indian soldier and was renowned for helping in sparking the Indian rebellion of 1857, which was also known as The First War of Indian Independence. Directed by Ketan Mehta, the movie was produced by Booby Bedi and had screenplay from Farrukh Dhondy. The movie features Aamir Khan in the titular role, marking his comeback in the movies post-Dil Chahta Hai that released in 2001.
